The Game Show Global eSports Cup 2016 kicked off this morning at the Game Show studio in Vilnius this morning, here are the first images of the action.
The opening match pitted Counter Logic Gaming and Team EnVyUs, which the French squad took in three maps. CLG managed to win de_overpass before losing de_train by a large margin (16-6), and ran out of fuel after leading on the decider, de_cache. Josh "jdm64" Marzano's 1.25 is certainly something to be noted, he went huge as the only positive player (+16) on his team and was a crucial part of keeping CLG in contention for the match until the end.
The second match saw the Danes from Dignitas take their matchup against FlipSid3 in two maps. While F3 almost brought back two 13:2 deficits, they ended up falling short both times and were sent to the elimination match.
Dignitas then played the winner's match against EnVyUs, which they went on to win in a very convincing fashion, as they took their map de_cobblestone 16-9 and nV's pick de_inferno 16-6, not letting the boys in blue get into double digits either time.
